After 18 years, Scott Evers is retiring from his role as Director of Operations for Education.
Scott began his career with NMS as an Executive Chef and advanced into a leadership role overseeing a $23 million portfolio across Alaska. His work focused on building strong operations in remote communities and supporting school districts across the state.
He worked closely with school boards and community Elders to better align programs with local values, including incorporating regional and Indigenous foods into district menus where possible. A notable achievement was the introduction of hydroponics across several districts, increasing access to fresh produce and giving many students their first opportunity to enjoy fresh salad bars—demonstrating NMS’s commitment to serving even the most remote villages.
Scott played a key role in designing and developing the Alaska Airlines Varsity Sports Grill, including the concession and dining stands, helping shape a high-volume, game-day operation.
He was active in supporting NANA shareholder development through training, mentorship, and local hiring initiatives.
Born and raised in Eagle River, Alaska, Scott has always had a connection to the outdoors. He has spent time climbing in the Alaska Range, including summiting Denali, and enjoys traveling abroad with his wife, Karen.
Scott extends his thanks to the many colleagues and teams he worked alongside over the years and takes pride in what was accomplished together.
“Scott Evers’ steady leadership and commitment to excellence have shaped NMS Education Food Services for nearly two decades. Congratulations to Scott and his wife Karen on their well-earned retirement.” Clinton Lasley, Vice President, FFM.
Please join us in wishing Scott the best in retirement.
