Meet Jonathan ‘Punahele’ Duarte. Originally from Anchorage, Jonathan now lives in Nome with his wife and six daughters, where his family is learning and practicing the traditional Iñupiaq way of life.
Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, and upgrading boats. One thing his coworkers might not know? Jonathan is also a musician who plays piano, bass, and guitar!
Jonathan has been with NMS for about six years, overseeing facility maintenance, operations, and custodial management for the school district. He enjoys the variety of challenges that come with supporting a rural community, where each day brings something different.
During his time with NMS, Jonathan has helped complete several major projects, including upgrading control systems at 11 sites, improving pool sanitation, and updating the high school roof. Looking ahead, he hopes to strengthen his team, improve operations, and expand NMS services to support more clients in the community.
Thank you, Jonathan, for all you do for NMS!
