Robin Wade’s career with NMS spans 25 years of growth, leadership, and dedication. She joined NMS as a Patient Services Manager at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC), a role that quickly led to new opportunities. She stepped in as General Manager for the Alaska Railroad dining services contract, then advanced to General Manager at ANMC, later becoming Area Manager, and eventually serving as Director of Operations overseeing healthcare accounts for FFM. Today, she manages the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge contract, continuing her commitment to service and leadership.
One of the most rewarding parts of her journey has been mentoring shareholder Craig Billingsley, who now leads the healthcare contracts. But for Robin, the people have always been the heart of her NMS experience. “What I’ve appreciated the most are the people I’ve had the privilege to work with. I’ve been blessed with incredible opportunities and am grateful for the life experiences this journey has given me. I believe deeply in what we do—being of service to others. I’ve seen about eight presidents, countless changes, and through it all, it’s the people who’ve left the most lasting impact.”
Born in California and raised in Louisiana, she developed a love for the outdoors and southern culture. Robin’s father, a war veteran who lost an eye in service, found a new purpose as a skilled furniture maker, inspiring a lifelong passion for woodworking. Meanwhile, Robin’s mother’s generosity and kindness shaped a leadership style rooted in service to others.
Outside of work, Robin is a furniture and mixed media artist, often incorporating found materials from her hikes into her work. This connection to nature fuels her creativity and serves as a way to appreciate the world around her.
She also carries with her the memory of colleagues who made a lasting impression—Guixin Yang, Lloyd Esquibel, and Emily Cross. “I am honored to have been part of their lives, and they will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Looking back on 25 years with NMS, Robin sums it up simply: “It’s been a whirlwind—and I’ve loved it.”
