Aaron Makkar is a Senior Recruiter for NMS and has been with our parent company, NANA, since 2019. His mission is to find us top talent for our open positions, primarily in our Food and Facilities Management division. This covers all roles, from dishwashers to General Managers.
Aaron’s days are spent calling, emailing, connecting with businesses, promoting positions on social media, attending job fairs, and more. Today’s recruitment landscape is highly competitive; therefore, evolving our talent acquisition systems is critical.
During Aaron’s time, he’s helped implement several programs that have elevated our recruitment program. This includes launching our Talent Community last July of which he functions as the project manager. If you haven’t heard of it, the Talent Community enables NMS to engage passive candidates while providing notifications of jobs available within their interests or skillset. Aaron recently traveled to Chicago to present at DEAMCon: the DirectEmployers Annual Meeting and Conference. He shared how NMS and our partner RecruitRooster have built our Talent Community Program there while highlighting the unique geographical and demographical recruiting challenges specific to NANA and Alaska.
Aaron and the recruitment team also actively initiate email and SMS marketing campaigns, via the Talent Community, to prospective candidates. It’s an always-on, highly engaged program. Aaron’s success and commitment to recruiting is reflective of the amazing teammates and department he supports. “Everything we do is truly a collaborative effort. His appreciation for our company culture, camaraderie, and continued academic support has kept him with NANA all these years. As a Hispanic team member, he loves that his role enables him to champion minority populations, especially our NANA Shareholders
