NMS operations at the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation campus are managed by a team of three: Amy Neill, general manager for food service, Brad Finn, director of security, and Henry Garcia, operations manager for environmental services (EVS). Although each discipline operates independent of the other, these three talented leaders’ combined expertise delivers an outstanding level of service to our client and their customers.
Amy Neill has been with NMS for more than 20 years, including several years working at the Sitka School District in Sitka, Alaska. Before joining the San Carlos team, Amy worked for Sodexo in Louisiana, but most of us know her from her work in Anchorage at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Always wearing her signature smile, Amy has been a stalwart for NMS at many catering events throughout Alaska, including a special fly-in catered event on a glacier. With Amy ‘s guidance, the San Carlos food service team produces a variety of daily food services to patients, visitors and staff, including freshly made soups and entrees, Simply to Go (a selection of salads, sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit and snacks), classic grill foods and full-service catering. The team of 20 caters meetings and events throughout the campus on request and delivers patient meals through Expressly for You®, a Sodexo program that allows patients to choose from a restaurant-style menu of meal options while still meeting individual patient dietary requirements.
Brad Finn joined NMS in the summer of 2015, bringing high energy and strong organizational skills to the new operation at San Carlos. A former police officer and security specialist, Brad joined the San Carlos Apache security team after eight years in Afghanistan working for a private security firm. Brad has worked diligently with the San Carlos security team to ensure a pleasant, safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors on the San Carlos campus. As director of security for NMS, Brad worked tirelessly with the Indian Health Service, the San Carlos Apache security sub-contracting group and San Carlos corporate employees to hire a cohesive, welltrained staff at the new facility. With Brad’s leadership, the security team works within defined protocols and procedures, trained and prepared for any situation.
Henry Garcia, operations manager of EVS for the healthcare center, understands the critical nature of the services he and his team provide each day. The EVS staff aid in the prevention of communicable diseases by thoroughly sanitizing public areas and private rooms. In addition to patient and waiting rooms, the EVS team also cleans administrative offices, hallways, restrooms and common areas. All cleaning, including laundry, must meet the standards set and reviewed by the Joint Commission – an organization that accredits healthcare organizations and programs in the U.S. Henry makes sure employees are properly trained and performing their jobs to meet Joint Commission standards.
“These people are great,” said San Carlos Apache Ambassador Bill Astor in regard to the EVS team. “They make the hospital shine and help to keep the healthcare center running safe and efficiently.”
Each of these three outstanding managers will tell you the same – it’s their dedicated team members who make the difference for the operation. The team recently had a Joint Commission inspection and came through with outstanding results in all three core areas of service. Thank you to Amy, Brad and Henry for expanding NMS’ service quality into San Carlos!
